Basing on Uganda Prisons Public Relations Officer, Frank Baine, the inmates have so far consumed 9,900 doses out of the 10,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine that were allocated to them.
He further said that the prisons personel throughout the country have positively embraced the vaccine which explains why their is a fast consumption of the vaccine as compared to the other fields where people are reluctant.
However, the personal attached to the 260 country wide prisons total up to 12,000 whereas they were allocated only 10,000 vaccines which means 2,000 personel are most likely to miss out on the vaccination process.
Due to this,the Public Relations officer adviced that the other vaccines could be got from other selected areas that are not being cooperative in the consumption of the drug.
Teachers for example have greatly shunned the vaccine as out of the 55,000 teachers registered country-wide, only a small number of 7,000 have agreed to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
This means over 99% of the teachers in the country have ignored the Covid-19 vaccine yet they are considered to be one of the people that are likely to contract coronavirus.

Mr. Frank Baine further informed that the vaccine is totally harmless and the persons have received it including himself have registered no complications so for those that are shunning the vaccine, it is high time they went for it or better still, the Uganda Prisons can take advantage and protect the 2,000 staff likely to miss out.
