Bweyogerere – The angry residents of Namataba, Freedom City Village, Kirinya Bweyogerere – Wakiso District have today morning beaten a thief who broke into a resident’s house today early morning at around 9:00 am and allegedly stole property and money.
A thief identified as Joel Obo (18) is allegedly said to have broken into a resident’s house at night and collected all appliances (TV, Ipads, Laptops, Phones), money, phones and put them behind the house and later slept in the owner’s bed who wasn’t around at the time.
Joel has been discovered a boy who sleeps in the sister bedroom after waking up and found the main door widely open and home appliances missing with a shocking smell covering the house. He searched the house and found Joel asleep on his mother’s bed.

He and his sister alerted a caretaker who also notified the village security people that came to their rescue and arrested the thief.
“Actually the people who have been stolen are my neighbours, and I am the one in charge of that house, so, when I woke up one of the girl who stays in that house came to me and said Aunt they have stolen from our house and the thief is still there sleeping on mum’s bed. I had to notify my immediate neighbours who advised me to go and call the LC. So, I went and looked for the security people in our area and handed over the case to them.” Said the caretaker.
Joel was arrested with two machetes and a knife of which he claims to have used to open the house.

Speaking to Cyclone Times, Joel confessed that he has so far broken into around 10 houses in the areas of Bukasa and Namataba.

“Thieves broke into my house and collected everything and after that, they even ate the food I had kept for my supper, they ate it and after eating they threw the plates outside. Even yesterday but one, they stole from my neighbour, mine is first door but the second one those people should be killed,” a citizen who preferred to remain anonymous told Cyclone Times.
