The Uganda Police Force has released CCTV video of one of the suspects in the murder of Maria Nagirinya.
Nagirinya was kidnapped and later recovered dead in Mukono district.
However, the video which is set in photographic format, the suspect is wearing a white shirt, a red coat and a cap on his head. He is of a dark skin complexion.
“This is, therefore, to appeal to members of the public and to any other person who will have useful information. However, leading to the arrest of the suspect in the pictures to contact the nearest police station.”
When he was hosted on NBS TV’s Morning Breeze today morning, the police spokesperson. Fred Enanga promised to release the CCTV video.
“In the case of Nagirinya, we have some footage that we are going to share with the public. So that they can probably help us identify some of the suspects. The public appreciates the work we do as the police. We will have really tried our best,” he said that during an interview.
Enanga added that Police condoled with the family of Nagirinya after the painful loss of their daughter under such circumstances.
In other words, he urged that crime is a problem to a society which will always be there.
“Crime is a problem and it’s always going to be there but we will have to ensure that we provide better systems in countering these cases that arise,” he said.
Nagirinya, 28, was attacked by unknown people while accessing the gate at her rented residence in Busega.
Therefore, together with her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa, they were kidnapped into Nagirinya’s car. A Toyota Spacio, registration number UBA570V and taken away amidst wails from Nagirinya.
Enanga mentioned that Police got information which had been about Nagirinya’s kidnap and communicated. The same to their stand by teams who responded in affirmative.
“Our control room got information and communicated to the stand by teams but sometimes tracking a phone using GPS is hard. One of the suspects, a boda boda rider is the one who led us to where the car had been abandoned. We believe he has more information and we have left the investigators to do their job.
On the increasing cases of kidnaps, Enanga said police have brought the rising cases of kidnap around the country. Act as a warning to police and should find a solution in some areas.
In conclusion, he said that they have registered over 50 cases of kidnap since the beginning of the year.
