The NRM and Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Col. Ibrahim Abiriga wept to journalists yesterday saying Museveni abandoned him after achieving the age limit removal.
Abiriga became famous for openly supporting the Igara West MP, Raphael Magyezi’s bill (Magyezi bill) that aimed at amending the presidential age limit caps, article 102 (b) of the constitution. He also supported the extension of term of office of parliamentarians from five years to seven years.
However, the legislator who dons yellow from top to bottom yesterday narrated to journalists that president Museveni the man he supports is not receiving his calls.
Abiriga claims Museveni no longer picks his calls after age limit cap was achieved.
He alleges President Museveni promised to refund his money he spent on mobilizing for NRM since his days as RDC but nothing has been done.
Abiriga adds that nobody from the NRM has called to console him after his house was burnt during togikwatako protests.
Despite the complaints, Ibrahim Abiriga is among the 200 Ugandans to receive medals on the NRM 32nd anniversary celebrations at Boma grounds in Arua Municipality and the chief guest is the NRM chairperson president Yoweri Museveni. Others include the Uganda police spokesperson Emilian Kayima.
