Journalists Jelder Derrick and Winnie set to legalise long-term relationship:
The three-day holy holiday weekend has been a merry one, especially for journalists Jelder and Winnie, as Jelder finally popped the question.
Fame lounge was literally on fire last Saturday, when Jelder, a digital journalism trainer with Ultimate Media Consults surprised his long term campus sweetheart, Winnie with the diamond ring every girl dreams about.
Jelder and Winnie have been seeing each other for a couple of years now – a love story that began from the classroom. The two were classmates in the 2013 class of Journalism and Communication in Makerere University, that graduated in 2016.
Jelder has always been a great and serious mobiliser, right from way back. He was once the chairperson of the GRC electoral committee during his time as a student at the Arts faculty, where he worked selflessly and produced commendable results.
His affair with Winnie started during that time and it is no surprise that Winnie, an equally great hard worker and journalist as well, fell for Jelder because he always put his best effort in everything.
“I saw Jelder and Winnie eyeing each other for long but while in class, it was as if it was not going to be serious,” Davidson, a classmate of the two intimated to us. He further explains that much as he is not very shocked about Jelder’s decision to propose, he is happy about it and believes that other young people and even their fellow journalists will definitely be inspired to pick a leaf from the proposal.

With the support of fellow journalism friends including Davidson Ndyabahika, Blanshe Musinguzi, Rugambwa Ivan among others, Jelder properly mobilised a few of their friends to organise the all-blue successful surprise proposal party that was held at Fame lounge along the former Acacia Avenue (currently called John Babiha Road).

Winnie, who was totally caught off-guard was later brought in blindfolded by her friends to meet her prince charming. It was all love in the air when he, opening the ring, went down on his knee and popped the big question.

Of course Winnie said yes, with teary eyes. And then the celebration began…
